Privacy Policy
Effective September 16, 2026 · Version 2026-09-16
This Privacy Policy explains how Barrault Technologies Inc. ("AllSquare", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the AllSquare mobile app and related services (the "Service"). If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Service.
Who we are
The data controller is Barrault Technologies Inc., Alberta, Canada. For any privacy question or request, contact us at privacy@allsquare.site.
What we collect
We collect only what the Service needs to work.
Account information. When you create an account we store your name, email address, an optional username (a public handle other people can use to add you as a friend), and an optional profile photo. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we store the identifier they give us instead of a password. If you sign up with email, we store a securely hashed version of your password, never the password itself.
Profile photo. If you set a profile photo, we store the image on our servers and show it to people who can already see you in the app (the members of your groups, your friends, and in your group activity). You can change or remove it at any time from the Account screen.
Friends and social connections. If you add friends, we store the connections between accounts and the pending requests you send or receive. Your name, username, and profile photo are visible to people you are connected to and to people who send you or receive from you a friend request.
Shared group data. AllSquare is a bill splitter, so some data is shared by design. When you join or create a group, the group's name, its members, the expenses and settlements you record (amounts, currency, descriptions, categories, dates, and any receipt image you attach), and the resulting balances are visible to the other members of that group.
Your private finance data. Budgets, debts, savings goals and auto-save plans, recurring bills, account balances, income, personal expenses, and any stock tickers and share counts you track are private to your account and are not shared with other users.
Subscription and purchase data. If you buy AllSquare Pro or a Trip Pass, the purchase is processed by Apple or Google. We receive a validated record of the purchase (product, transaction identifier, status, and expiry) to unlock your features. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
Device and notification data. If you enable notifications, we store a push token for your device and your device time zone so we can send reminders at a sensible local time. We may also process basic technical information (app version, device platform, and IP address from network requests) to operate and secure the Service.
AI coach interactions. When you ask the in-app money coach a question, we send your question together with a snapshot of the relevant financial figures from your account to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate a response. See "AI features" below.
Consent records. We record which version of these policies you agreed to and when, as proof of your acceptance and so we know when to ask you to review an updated version.
On-device only. If you set an app passcode or enable Face ID / Touch ID, and if you use the per-page "hide amounts" toggle, those settings and the passcode stay on your device. The passcode is stored in your device keychain and is never sent to us.
We do not collect precise location, we do not use advertising identifiers, we do not use third-party analytics or ad trackers, and we do not sell your personal information.
How we use your information
- To provide the Service: run your groups, calculate balances, keep your private finance tools, connect you with friends, and value your stock holdings.
- To generate coaching answers you request from the AI coach.
- To send notifications you have enabled (for example, a reminder that a bill is coming up).
- To process and restore your subscriptions and entitlements.
- To record your acceptance of these policies.
- To secure the Service, prevent abuse, debug, and comply with law.
Legal bases (where applicable, e.g. EEA/UK)
We process your information to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), on the basis of your consent (for example, notifications and the AI coach), for our legitimate interests (securing and improving the Service), and to comply with legal obligations. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
How we share information
We share information only as described here:
- Other group members and friends, for the shared group data and the name/username/photo described above.
- Service providers (sub-processors) who process data on our behalf:
- Apple and Google - sign-in, in-app purchases, and push delivery (APNs / FCM).
- Anthropic - processes your AI coach questions and the financial snapshot you send with them to generate responses.
- Railway - hosts our application servers and PostgreSQL database in the United States.
- Yahoo Finance - supplies stock quotes. We send the ticker symbols you choose to track; we do not send your personal information to obtain quotes.
- Frankfurter (European Central Bank reference rates) - supplies daily currency exchange rates. We send only currency codes and dates, never personal data.
- Legal and safety - if required by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
- Business transfers - in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
AI features
The money coach is powered by Anthropic's Claude models. Your question and a snapshot of the relevant figures from your account are sent to Anthropic to produce an answer, and are handled under Anthropic's terms for API customers. Coaching answers are informational only and are not professional financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Do not include information in your questions that you do not want processed by this feature. See our Disclaimer.
International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than yours, including the United States, where our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account (see below), we remove your personal and private finance data, your profile photo, your friend connections, and your push tokens, and we revoke sign-in. Because balances are shared, your entries in shared groups are retained in anonymized form (your name is replaced with "Deleted user") so other members' histories and balances remain correct. We may retain limited records where required for legal, tax, or security reasons.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account any time from Account -> Delete account in the app. This removes your personal and private finance data and signs you out.
- Edit or remove your username, profile photo, and friends at any time.
- Notifications can be turned off in the app or in your device settings.
- App lock and the per-page "hide amounts" toggle are yours to enable or disable on device.
Depending on where you live (for example, under GDPR, the UK GDPR, PIPEDA, or the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, contact privacy@allsquare.site. We do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, hashed passwords, rotating session tokens with reuse detection, and an optional on-device passcode / biometric lock. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact privacy@allsquare.site and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and version, and, where appropriate, ask you to review and accept the updated version in the app.
